The 3rd Edition of the Solidarity Contest “Fem Paelles a la Rambla” Raises €16,000

On October 18, the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and Amics de la Rambla celebrated the third edition of the charity contest “Fem Paelles a la Rambla”, a gastronomic and charitable event held at Rambla de Santa Mònica, which saw strong community participation.
This year, the contest raised a net total of €16,000, which will be entirely allocated to neurorehabilitation and research in multiple sclerosis, helping to support projects for people affected by this disease.
The edition brought together 76 participants divided into 38 teams, each preparing a paella for around 20 people. Each team had a 2x2 meter cooking box and all the necessary equipment to prepare their recipe: a gas cylinder provided by Repsol, a 70 cm paella pan, a burner, legs, and an auxiliary table.
In total, nearly 900 attendees were able to taste the different culinary creations thanks to tasting tickets sold both online and on-site.
Among the paella varieties available were:
-
Octopus and sobrassada paella
-
Creamy beef rice
-
Vegan ceps paella
-
Chicken offal and chanterelle paella
The jury included renowned chef Sergio Torres, sommelier Meritxell Falgueras, and the members of La Cubana – Anna Barrachina, Xavi Tena, Oriol Burés, and Àlex González – who deliberated to select the first, second, and third prizes, as well as a special award for the “Most Rambla-Style Paella.” La Boqueria contributed by providing bags of vegetables for the participants’ paellas.
Evaluation and Charitable Impact
According to a post-event survey, 100% of the participants said they would participate again next year, and the contest received an average rating of 9 out of 10. These results consolidate the event as a key annual gastronomic and charitable gathering and reinforce its potential for future growth.
