Boqueria, present at the ‘Meeting of Traditional Markets of the Canary Islands

Last 14-15 November, Salvador Capdevila, Chairman of Boqueria Market Traders Association, attended meeting to commemorate the 75th anniversary of La Recova de Santa Cruz.

The meeting was organised by the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife as an opportunity to promote gastronomy and local products and all professionals from different markets in the Canary Islands, the Iberian Peninsula and Madeira to exchange experiences.

The Boqueria representative gave a speech entitled ‘The traditional market and the food market: A hybrid model’ and also took part along with the representatives of the markets of Chamartín and Valencia in the conference ‘Success stories’, during which the speakers commented on successful experiences or activities that could serve as an example for other participants.

The different conferences at the event included references to markets as tourist products and a discussion was held about the present and future of markets. The meeting also included a tour of Nuestra Señora de África market.
