Visit by Korea, China and Lebanon
The Boqueria continues to arouse interest all over the world among both professional trade visitors and persons with an interest in gastronomy. During the past thirty days the Market has been visited by different groups from South Korea, China and Lebanon.
Last 29 March we were visited by twenty people from the Investigative Office of the Korean province of Gyeonngi who were interested in getting to know the Market and the Traders Association. The topics discussed at the meeting included organisational matters related to Barcelona Municipal Markets Institute and Boqueria Market in particular, with special emphasis on technical and legal aspects.
Two days later, on 31 March, we were visited by Beirut Food Official, an influencer and instagramer specialised in disseminating information about restaurants and gastronomy in the Lebanese capital with a keen interest in knowing the Boqueria.
In April the Market was visited by a group of representatives from the Chinese province of Shandong, one of the most important farm produce import and export areas in the country, who had come to Barcelona to attend the Alimentària Trade Fair. The group, formed by two inspectors from the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and more than twenty entrepreneurs from the farming, food and beverages sectors, was interested in getting to know the Market and its history, and studying possible opportunities of working together.

Lastly on 25 April a new Korean group visited the Market, in this case, from the city of Daegu. It included representatives from the city council’s Trade area who were very interested in the Barcelona experience as they were in the process of preparing a project to refurbish the Seomun Market, a market of reference in the country with more than 4,000 stalls and 300 years of history which had unfortunately caught fire. The topics covered at the meeting included competition between markets and supermarkets and the study of different formulas for dealing with it.
